Catherine Frederico
Catherine Frederico, MS RDN LDN is a registered dietitian and a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Foods & Nutrition, and has been recognized by her peers for her expertise in this field. Catherine hosts NutritionVision, which draws on her work in various areas of nutrition science, and blends her love of fabulous food with her keen artistic eye and creative photography.
How it all started
"I grew up helping tend an extended family garden that provided us with most all of our fruit and vegetables for the year. It was a natural progression for me to major in nutrition science to learn how our bodies use food nutrients. My life’s work has been sharing my knowledge of healthy eating with my family and others.”
Catherine’s professional career has focused on renal dietetics, pediatric nutrition, fitness, and wellness. Most recently she has used her tech skills to develop health and nutrition games and applications. Her award-winning game, Food Focus: Fruits guides players through five levels to identify 50 fruits from magnified photos. Veggie Garden Palooza is the sequel with over 100 photos. She has also consulted or been on the development team for Breast Cancer Care, App reSolutions, Max’s Plate, Mix and Max, and Go Social.
As a professor, she specializes in using technology in the classroom. In 2012 and 2013, she authored several articles and textbook chapters, including:

Currently, Catherine is working on health games, developing clinical nutrition apps, and appearing at a number of conferences to speak about Appy Living, a program that guides people on using their iPads for health and wellness. She Chairs the Acacemy's Consumer Health Informatics Work Group.
